The orphan works issue is not going away and as you know will greatly impact artists everywhere including every one of us here at absolutearts.com if it is passed in its current form without major concessions on the part of Congress. But it still hasn’t risen above most American’s event horizon. And that won’t happen if artists don’t make a lot of noise! I’ve not read a damn thing in the papers or seen anything about it on TV. This is what the bill’s instigators hoped for…silence. The IPA is encouraging artists to become activists and raise consciousness. Hopefully you’ll be able to fill a slot with this letter from the Illustrators’ Partnership which encourages local artists to raise awareness locally, first among other artists and secondly in the general community.
